Court: Theaters Must Offer Captioning

A federal appeals court says theater owners must accommodate those with hearing disabilities in order to comply with ADA law. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled unanimously against the Harkins theater chain which had argued that federal law does not require them to use the necessary equipment. The Arizona Attorney General's Office filed the suit four years ago. At that time, not one of the company's 262 screens offered "closed caption" technology.
