T. Alan Hurwitz is the new president of
Gallaudet University in Washington, DC. The board of trustees picked Hurwitz over three other finalists, all of whom are deaf. He's currently president of New York's
National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) and vice president/dean of
Rochester Institute of Technology for NTID. Hurwitz replaces Robert Davila, whose term ends in December. Protests over the selection of Jane Fernandes three years ago shut down the school. Read more on the selection
