In a review of a new BBC thriller The Silence, a Guardian Newspaper reviewer says the series has a "storyline that leaves the viewer wanting more." Deaf actor Genevieve Barr' plays a woman who has a cochlear implant and is trying to come to terms with her new hearing. She has to "spend her days at hearing-therapy sessions, tediously reading out childish sentences and being berated for using sign language.
