Proposed TN law could change who terms in abuse cases

A Tennessee state senator has introduced a bill that would prevent law enforcement officers from using family members as interpreters in child abuse situations. It would also allow the use of volunteer interpreters. The House Civil Justice subcommittee will take a look at Republican Ferrell Haile's bill today and the Senate Calendar Committee will take up the bill Thursday. Some Deaf advocates are concerned the bill could lead to the use of unqualified interpreters. Read the bill here.
