The Deaf-Blind of Acadiana

An area of southern Louisiana known as Acadiana has "the world's second-largest concentration of people who became deaf-blind due to Usher syndrome. Lynn Blanchard, executive director of the Affiliated Blind of Louisiana Training Center, said about 300 Louisiana people are deaf-blind because of that genetic condition."
