Albuquerque is getting a new school for the deaf. Students with hearing loss in the New Mexico town currently have to travel to Santa Fe to attend a school for the deaf. The county commission agreed to lease a county building to the
ABQ Sign Language Academy in the downtown area for $30,000. Renovation will cost half-a-million dollars with $400,000 coming from the county and $100,000 from the state. The Academy will enroll 40 children starting this July.
