The Minds of Musicians

Brain scans are showing musicians reveal themselves when they improvise. The research comes from Baltimore’s Johns Hopkins University and the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. Scientists say the scans show the medial prefrontal cortex lights up when musicians improvise. That’s the same part of the brain that responds when someone asks you to tell something about yourself.
