Researchers say they've discovered many college students who believe they have typical hearing actually have some hearing loss. About a quarter of the students involved had 15 decibels or more of hearing loss. While not severe enough to require a hearing aid, it is enought to disrupt learning. Seven percent had more than a quarter of hearing loss. That falls under the clinical definition of mild hearing loss. The University of Florida findings are detailed in the
International Journal of Audiology.
