Former Teacher Sues Deaf School

A deaf school violated the ADA rights of one of its teachers, according to a lawsuit. Joanne Webb-Barnum is suing the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf for denying her request for special accommodations due to a medical conditions. Webb-Barnum worked as a teacher in the school for nearly seven years before being let go this year. She had taken medical leave in February related to her disabilities. The suit also claims she did not get the support and training needed to deal with some of pre-kindergarten students with behavioral issues. Instead, she was reassigned as a teacher's assistant when problems developed. The school has not yet responded to the suit.
