Cochlear Limited makes electronic implantable hearing devices based in New South Wales, Australia. The company does most of its business in Europe (44% of revenue), the US (40% of revenue) and Australia (16% of revenue) through more than a dozen subsidiaries. It employs more than 1700 people. A suit was filed against the company in US court in April of 2012 over the recall of the Nucleus CI500 implant, apparently because of a moisture problem in the device.
